Hull is hosting the British Climbing Cup Championships this weekend.
The national competition will take place at Rockcity on its brand-new competition wall.
Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for leisure and culture at Hull City Council, said: “Hull has always been a proud sporting city, so it’s fantastic that we have been able to draw and host such an exciting national event.
“Rock climbing is becoming more and more popular, thanks in large part to the commitment and vision of venues such as Rockcity. I’m sure the sport has a very bright future.”
40 of Britain’s best boulderers will come together at the newest competition wall in the country.
The wall was designed and built by chief route-setter for the Tokyo Olympic Games, Percy Bishton.
Percy has years of experience building and setting walls for the IFSC World Cups.
The women’s field is packed full of big names including 2019 British Bouldering Champion Holly Toothill, and young guns Louise Flockhart and Pippa Watkin.
The men’s competition is equally stacked with multiple British Champion Dave Barrans, internet superstar Louis Parkinson and European Youth Champion Toby Roberts.
The British Climbing Cup Championships take place on Saturday 26 September.
The event will be available on BBC iPlayer and on the BBC website, as well as YouTube.
Semi-finals will start at 10.30am and the final will begin at 5.30pm.
The event is being held in accordance with the latest Public Health England advice.
