Hull City Council has launched a six-week public engagement exercise to secure feedback from residents and commuters around proposals for safety improvements at two junctions on Holderness Road.
From Monday 22 June 2026, people can view the changes proposed for the Bellfield Avenue and Summergangs Road junctions and have their say.
The improvements form part of the council’s Safer Roads Fund programme, following a successful bid to the Department for Transport.
Initiatives delivered through the Safer Roads Fund aim to reduce deaths and serious injuries on the road network.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “The enhancements being proposed for these junctions will not only help us improve safety, but they will also have wider benefits for all those using the highway network in the Holderness Road area, whatever mode of transport they choose.
“The public engagement exercise provides the opportunity for residents, local business users, motorists and members of the travelling public to let us know their thoughts, so that we can refine our plans.”

There are several proposed changes to the Holderness Road / Bellfield Avenue junction.
These include –
- new traffic signals, including advanced stop lines for people cycling
