Traffic calming measures will be installed on Summergangs Road in east Hull from next month.
Hull City Council has appointed contractors MB Roche & Sons Limited to carry out the works near to Swinburne Street and James Reckitt Avenue.
Two speed bumps will be installed to reduce vehicle speeds and provide a safe public highway for all.
Due to the nature of the scheme, the works will be completed under a road closure.
However, to minimise the impact on residents, the scheme will be split into two phases, each lasting two weeks, so there is still ample on street parking.
Cllr Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at the council, said: “The council acknowledges the disruption this programme of works may cause residents and motorists and thanks them for their patience.
“However, I welcome the decision for these improvements to be carried out over two phases to minimise disruption.
“I am pleased that the council remains committed to ensuring our city’s road network is futureproof and safe for all of its users.”
The programme will begin on Monday 10 February and are expected to take around four weeks to complete.
A diversion will be in place whilst the programme is underway along Holderness Road, Ings Road and James Reckitt Avenue.
Public transport companies have been notified in advance of the works, whilst waste management will continue as normal.
