Hull City Council is pleased to announce that investigation works on the Hessle Road flyover will be completed this evening (Friday 22 August) – three weeks earlier than originally planned.
The investigations, carried out by Hull-based engineering firm Mason Clark Associates, began in early July as part of the councils five-year infrastructure investment programme.
Originally scheduled to run until Friday 12 September, the investigations were crucial in assessing the structural condition of the flyover and informing future strengthening and maintenance plans.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “We’re delighted that the works have been completed ahead of schedule, minimising disruption for road users and residents.
“This early completion reflects the professionalism and efficiency of Mason Clark Associates.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation whilst these investigations were carried out.”
Andy Thompson, director of bridges at Mason Clark Associates, added: “Our engineers worked diligently to complete the investigations safely and swiftly.
“As a Hull-based company, we’re proud to support Hull City Council in helping to keep this key route safe and reliable for years to come.”
All traffic management will be removed this evening, with normal access for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians to resume from Saturday morning.
The findings from the investigation will guide the next phase of planning for future strengthening works to ensure the flyover remains safe and reliable for years to come.
