Free summer fun with Healthy Holidays Hull

With schools across Hull out for summer (or about to be), the city’s school-age children and young people can look forward to exciting, totally free activities all summer long.

There are plenty of opportunities to make the most of the outdoors and get active – as well as a wealth of indoor fun.

Healthy Holidays Hull has become a school holiday staple, offering an exciting variety of sessions, with nutritious food included. All are welcome to attend, and activities on offer include a dedicated SEND programme, a range of sports, outdoor education, go-karting, street dance and theatre, cooking sessions, football, arts and crafts and more.

There are also family events including beach days, play days and fundays, and Zebfest – a dedicated festival just for 11-16-year-olds. Activity providers include Hull’s libraries, museums and leisure centres, as well as local community and voluntary organisations, and strategic partners Hull FC, Tigers Trust, Sportsability Training Limited, First Step Sports Group and StreetGames.

Cllr Linda Tock, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Hull City Council, said: “Summer wouldn’t be summer without Healthy Holidays. The scope of activities on offer really is fantastic, I’d urge all parents and young people to have a look at the website and find something that suits them. Some sessions require booking, others you can just turn up to.

“Whether children and young people want to get outside, be active, play sports or flex their creative muscles with art, theatre or dance, there’s something in the programme to make them happy.

“As always, everything is free, almost all sessions include a nutritional food offer, and everyone can participate provided they are school-aged and live in Hull.

“Healthy Holidays is an invaluable programme, which means every family has opportunities to enjoy activities throughout the school holidays, without having to worry about finding the money. Parents also have the assurance that their children and young people are getting nutritious food while they’re there”.

Healthy Holidays runs from Wednesday July 23, throughout the school holidays.
