Hull’s Bonus Arena has been named as one of the world’s best up-and-coming venues by prestigious American publication Billboard.
The Myton Street venue is the only venue in the UK to be included in Billboard’s 20 Music Venues to Watch in 2019 list, published this week.
It was named on the shortlist along with venues in New York, Los Angeles, Montevideo and Washington. The list also contained the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, home of NBA team the Milwaukee Bucks, the 80,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Rogers Place in Alberta, Canada, home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers.
Dan Harris, general manager at the Bonus Arena, said: “The Bonus Arena continues to put the city of Hull on the map – not just locally, but on the world stage too. Billboard is one of the most prestigious music publications in the world and to be included as one of the top 20 up-and-coming venues is a real honour.
“To be placed in the same conversation as huge arenas in New York, Los Angeles and Washington is testament to the hard work of the team and the fantastic support the city of Hull has given us since we opened last summer.”
