Business leaders from across the Humber region will come together later this week to discuss a collaborative approach to the sustainable development of the built environment.
‘The Regeneration Game’, being held on Friday at the University of Hull’s Aura Innovation Centre, is part of this week’s Waterline Summit, which aims to demonstrate how we all have a part to play in the race to net-zero.
The session will be hosted by John Till, the director and founder of thinkingplace, a “branding, place marketing and place making specialist”.

Mr Codd, the council’s Assistant Director of Economic Development and Regeneration, will offer an insight into how the local authority is positioning itself at the forefront of the national response to climate change and working with partners to tackle the impact of climate change in our local area through the Hull 2030 Carbon Neutral Strategy.

The Waterline Summit 2021
This year’s Waterline Summit, which runs until Friday, focuses on connecting the Humber and its multi-billion-pound projects to the forthcoming COP26 climate change conference and beyond.
Yesterday’s launch event was streamed live from Hull City Hall and hosted by former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin.
Mrs Minchin said: “You only have to have caught the briefest glimpse of the news headlines over the past few months to get an insight into the impact that our climate is having across the world – devastating wildfires in California, catastrophic flash floods in Germany and deadly heatwaves across Europe, to name a few.
“It seems timely that these events have happened just as the world’s political and business leaders prepare to descend on Glasgow in November for arguably the most important climate talks since the Paris Agreement in 2015. COP26 will be an opportunity to make real change.
“I’m delighted that the Humber is using this moment to take a hard look at the region’s role in carbon emissions and examine how it can move towards a zero carbon economy.”

The summit opened with the unveiling of the new film “Eyes on the Humber”, which documents the critical role the region has to play globally in the climate change challenge.

Commissioned by Marketing Humber, the film provides two contrasting views of how the world could look in the year 2122 – a devastating outlook if urgent and significant action is not taken, and a positive future for generations to come if it is.
The film will be given a showcase for world leaders at the COP26 conference in Glasgow, which runs from October 31 to November 12.
