Plans to introduce additional parking for motorists visiting East Park have been revealed.
The new car park will allow spaces for up to forty cars and will also include the development of a permanent road from the back of Woodford Leisure Centre car park to the small existing car park in East Park.
The move comes after the gates to East Park were closed to motorists last year in order to improve social distancing measures for visitors as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.
Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “The creation of additional spaces reduces the number of spaces lost by the closure of the park gates and will relieve pressure for on-street parking in neighbouring streets.
“We hope that this is an amicable solution for residents living in the area and for those who visit and use the park for leisurely activities.”
During the drier summer months an overspill car park will also be available on grassed areas that will be managed by the parks team.
