One of Hull’s best-loved museums will close for three weeks from Monday.
Hull and East Riding Museum, one of the star attractions in the city’s Museums Quarter, will be closed to the public for the installation of a new heating system.
The museum will reopen on Monday 15 April.
The work is necessary for the preservation of the internationally important collections.
The attraction, in High Street in the city’s Old Town, allows visitors to experience 235 million years of history, including a walk through an Iron Age village, entry into a Roman bath house and the chance to see a mysterious crew of wooden warriors.
Councillor David Craker, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism at Hull City Council, said: “Hull and East Riding Museum is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions and visitors will miss it for the period of its closure, but it is important that we preserve the wonderful and significant exhibits on display at the museum.
“The new heating system will also ensure the comfort of visitors and protect against further unplanned closures.”
