Road users and pedestrians will benefit from improved traffic signals at the junction of Spring Bank West and Chanterlands Avenue from next month.
The improvements are being made after feedback from residents and will include advanced detection equipment, low-level cycle signals, and altered signal stages to improve waiting times at the junction.
The main change that road users will notice is that the signals will allow both inbound and outbound traffic on Spring Bank West to run at the same time.
Vehicles turning right into Chanterlands Avenue will be able to turn in gaps in the inbound traffic or wait for the right-turn filter arrow to appear.
Cllr Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Road and Highways, said: “After taking on board residents’ feedback about this busy junction, we are making changes to this that will benefit all users, including drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
“The work should not cause much disruption, and once it is finished, everyone will benefit from improved safety and reduced journey times.”
Temporary signals will be in place during the amendment works, which will take place on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 November.
Additional signs will be in place before and after the work to remind drivers of the changes.
Swarco has been contracted to carry out the works on behalf of Hull City Council.
