Visitors to Albermarle Music Centre this Saturday are in for a treat, as a stunning singing duo perform as part of Hull City Council’s Singing City initiative.
Singers and inspiring choir leaders Ben See & Dom Stichbury will be at the Albermarle for an afternoon of fun & uplifting harmony singing followed by a performance as part of their UK tour.
Ben & Dom from South London have been singing, teaching & writing songs together since 2019. They bring a wealth of experience as community singing leaders, arrangers & performers. After the success of their debut EP ‘Shoulder’, the duo are on a UK-wide tour in Spring 2023 to launch their first full length album ‘His Head Lies Heavy’.
The duo will teach a selection of easy-to-pickup songs in a fun and inclusive way, in their workshop for all voices, with no previous singing experience required.
Following the workshop, everyone attending can experience the duo’s intricate and moving vocal sound as they perform a collection of songs drawing from their own material and arrangements of their favourite classics. Their thoughtful lyrics touch on friendship, nature and what it means for two men to sing together in this modern day.
Dom was last in Hull as part of the amazing male voice group ‘Spooky Men’s Chorale’ when he performed with a ‘Fistful of Spookies’. On that occasion workshop participants were led into the fountains of Queen Victoria Square to perform Hull’s very first ‘Splashmob’. On his first trip to Hull, security in St Stephens were put on alert when singers flooded into the shopping centre to give an impromptu performance after an exuberant workshop. Who knows what delights will follow this time with Ben in the mix!
Organised by Hull City Council’s Arts Development, the duo will be supported in concert by local male voice superstars ‘Answers on a Postcard’ and Hull Freedom Chorus’ ‘Men’s Chorus’.
Tickets for the FREE afternoon workshop (2-4pm) be booked here, and paid evening gig (doors 7pm for 7:15pm) are available here.
