Hull City Council’s Hull Training and Adult Education (HTAE) service have been assessed as ‘Good’ by OFSTED.
HTAE were previously assessed as ‘Requires improvement’ at their last full inspection in 2018.
HTAE provide apprenticeships, adult learning programmes, education programmes for young people and provision for learners with high needs.
Ofsted praised HTAE for offering calm and well-resourced learning centres, which support learners to engage in their studies effectively. They also had praise for “well-qualified and experience tutors”, who have developed effective courses and a range of resources for learners.
Leaders and managers were also commended for having a “clear intent for their training and apprenticeships to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds into learning and to prepare learners for employment”.
Councillor Rosemary Pantelakis, portfolio holder for Corporate Training and Hull Training said: “I am so proud of all learners and staff at Hull Training and Adult Education in achieving this Good OFSTED report.
“Our learners are some of the most disadvantaged and overlooked residents with high needs. Many of them have overcome huge barriers in their lives to find a future. This would be impossible without the hard work, dedication and commitment of staff. Their ingenuity and inventiveness has ensured bespoke skills are developed for emerging industries in green energy and most importantly sustainable work in the local economy.”
OFSTED also highlighted how HTAE have designed helpful courses that help migrants to settle in Hull, to engage in education and enter employment, as well as offering effective support to learners with high needs which enables them to make good progress.
HTAE were also praised for promoting “a culture of safeguarding”, with effective procedures which help keep learners safe.
