Hull businesses are invited to a series of free bite-size workshops to improve cyber security, starting this week.
The Rybec Group, in partnership with Hull City Council’s Managed Workspace Centres, is delivering the sessions starting on Thursday 18 June.
Cyber-crime is becoming one of the biggest risks facing businesses today and small businesses are often hacked due to a lack of cyber protection.
These workshops will provide information on how vital data such as a customer base and reputation can be better protected.
The three-hour sessions will see businesses learn how to better spot phishing emails, avoid being victims or fraud and how a ransomware attack can impact small businesses and more.
Cllr Sarita Robinson, the council’s portfolio holder for corporate services, said: “Small businesses are what keeps Hull’s economy running.
“Sadly, they are often targeted by hackers and this could have catastrophic consequences for them and their staff.
“It is pleasing that the council is able to work with The Rybec Group to deliver these free sessions to help to safeguard businesses’ future.”
The first free session is taking place on Thursday 18 June at Louis Pearlman Centre on Goulton Street, HU3 4DL.
This will be followed by another two workshops, both at Craven Park Training and Enterprise Centre on Thursday 16 July and Bespoke Centre on Thursday 20 August.
