Visitors to Bean Street Play Area will be able to enjoy new and improved facilities at the playground later this summer.
Four apparatus will remain in place – a rotary item, a springed object and two multi-units – which will be repainted, along with seating benches, to restore and revive the equipment.
The remainder of the existing facilities will be removed and replaced with items such as a net climber, springer scramble bike and ambulance, combi swings and a balance beam and jump pod set.

Also to be installed is a communication board for both children and adults with difficulties communicating or expressing their needs verbally.
The board depicts in an easily understandable way a variety of needs and responses, such as happy, sad, hungry, thirsty, tired etc.
This helps to ensure that Bean Street Play Area remains accessible and also provide free outdoor leisure facilities to all residents and visitors, promoting social interaction and a healthy and active lifestyle.
Other new features include thermoplastic markings around the park, including a graphic displaying ‘hello’ in multiple languages, plus alpha caterpillars and hopscotch.
Hull City Council has allocated funds through its Playground Improvement Capital Programme towards the renovation.

Andrea McArthur, parks & open spaces project officer at the council, said: “I am delighted that the council is able to support the refurbishment of Bean Street Play Area.
“It demonstrates the council’s commitment to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, whilst also providing free and accessible equipment for residents and visitors.
“I look forward to seeing it once its makeover is complete and I’m sure it will be enjoyed by many for years to come.”
The works will be completed by KOMPAN Limited.
