Rhiannon Beeson, Liberal Democrats has been elected as the new councillor in the Avenue ward.
The results of the by-election are:
- Rhiannon Beeson (Liberal Democrats) – 1186 votes
- Alex Hayward (Conservative) – 43 votes
- James Russell (Green) – 198 votes
- Michael Whale (Independent) – 139 votes
- Karen Wood (Labour) – 1029 votes
The new political make-up of the council is:
- Liberal Democrat Group – 33
- Labour Group – 23
- Independent – 1
The turnout for the by-election was 29 per cent.
The Avenue ward covers an area including Pearson Park, Chanterlands Avenue, part of Spring Bank West and Princes Avenue.
