A man has been banned from several Hull streets for a period of two years after blighting the lives of vulnerable and frightened residents with constant antisocial behaviour. Scott Vaughan, 35, of Mullion Close, Bransholme, received what is known as an ‘ouster injunction’, which bars him from a number of streets in the Longhill area, following a case heard at Hull County Court on January 30.
Hull City Council’s Neighbourhood Nuisance Team worked in partnership with Humberside Police to support local residents to take a stand against Vaughan’s behaviour following regular claims of anti-social behaviour and offending. Problems were reported throughout Longhill, resulting in the eventual order covering a large number of streets.
Vaughan was reported for issues including drug dealing, shouting, fighting, carrying weapons including a machete, swearing, threats and intimidation.
Cllr Rob Pritchard, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Crime Prevention and Culture, said: “This order will give local people whose lives were made a misery because of Vaughan’s behaviour peace of mind and the ability to enjoy their community again.
“I’d like to thank all the partners who worked so well together to bring about the conviction of this offender who despite being offered help, refused this offer and continued to cause distress to others.
“Hopefully this sentence will send out a signal to others that such behaviour will not be tolerated, so people in Hull can live in peace”.
The injunction forbids Vaughan from entering an area stretching from Saltshouse Road to Frome Road and Waverley Road, and between Holderness Drain and Shannon Road. He must also not cause ‘nuisance, annoyance or disturbance’ to anyone who lives within the designated area.
