Albert Avenue is expected to reopen early spring 2023.

Albert Avenue Pools to close for major refurbishment

Albert Avenue Pools will close its doors from Monday 18 October ahead of a major multi-million pound refurbishment.

The scheme includes the construction of a new outdoor lido to replace the existing one which closed more than 30 years ago.

The remodel will also mean the construction of a new large fitness gym and class studio, the refurbishment and redecoration of the whole building, the replacement of all the mechanical and electrical systems, along with new heating and ventilation systems.

Councillor Daren Hale, leader of Hull City Council said: “This investment into Albert Avenue will guarantee its future for generations to come. The council has received national plaudits for its bold decision to refurbish a lido in an inner city neighbourhood.”

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure said: “All users of Albert Avenue Pools are invited to use our other excellent centres, including the fantastic newly refurbished Beverley Road Baths nearby. Leisure users can also access facilities at Ennerdale Leisure Centre, Woodford Leisure Centre and Costello Stadium.”

Memberships can be placed on hold for the duration of the closure if other centres are not an option by simply emailing business.support@hcandl.co.uk or calling 01482 300 349.

The centre is expected to reopen early spring 2023.
