Without our wonderful foster carers, our children would not have the daily opportunities, love or support they receive.
Please let us introduce Heather and Clive…
“I feel immensely privileged to be Heather and Clive’s Fostering Social Worker, as they are wonderful, open-minded people with an abundance of patience, knowledge, and skills. During their fostering career of over 30 years, they have provided a home for hundreds of children and young people. They have provided homes for children and young people both long, short term and in emergency situations, including siblings, children with complex needs, disabilities, and post-18.
Heather and Clive remain in contact with some young people or randomly bump into them around the city. I remember a story Clive told about an adult turning up outside of their home a few years ago asking, “does Heather live here?” as they wanted to thank her and Clive for providing a home to them when they needed it as a child.
During conversations with Heather and Clive, it is very evident that seeing previous foster children when they have moved on and grown into adults is very rewarding for them. Heather and Clive speak very fondly of the children and young people they have fostered and continue to foster and openly talk of the “joy” these children bring to their lives.
For many years Heather also played an active role in supporting foster carers by running support groups for foster carers, attending foster carer consultation groups, and mentoring newly approved foster carers. Not only have Heather and Clive supported children and young people throughout their fostering career but also through their previous careers in Children’s Services. They are truly committed.
Thank you, Heather and Clive; it’s an absolute pleasure working with you”. (Helen, Fostering Social Worker)
Now it is our turn to show Heather and Clive how wonderful they are.
Heather and Clive you are a shining example of how love and compassion can change a future. The difference you have made to over 200 children in 30 years is astounding. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being the wonderful people you are.
