Hull Fostering on BBC Look North 14th November

It has been quite a wonderful and unexpected week for Hull Fostering, when we woke up on Thursday 10th November to see John Lewis department store had used their annual Christmas advert to highlight fostering and the love and dedication foster carers give to children in their care, we felt overjoyed and rather emotional.

To our astonishment, on the same day foster carer Jo Newby, was officially titled “the UK’s kindest hero” and a statue has been built in her honour to be placed in a prominent place in Hull.

Jo Newby has been recognised for her work as a foster carer of nearly 20 years, in which time she has cared for 92 children and adopted one.

The statue of Ms Newby was put up as part of a campaign called #MyKINDHero. It is by the healthy snack bar brand, KIND, to promote and encourage acts of kindness.

Then yesterday, (14 November) Peter Levy from BBC Look North interviewed Jo and our very own Hull Fostering’s Head of Service Michele Priest to discuss the rewarding world of fostering, and we think they did a fantastic job promoting what an incredible journey fostering has on your heart, mind, and the children in care.

We hope from all this publicity more people come forward and talk to us about the different types of fostering available.

Please sit back and prepare to feel warm and fuzzy watching this video.
