Hull City Council is offering further support to relocate Afghan refugees.
The council is maintaining its original pledge under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy to take up to five families. Four have already arrived in the city.
The council has also pledged to receive up to nine individuals under the new Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme.
Daren Hale, leader of Hull City Council, said: “Hull, a proud City of Sanctuary, is providing a welcoming place of safety for those fleeing persecution.
“We consider this commitment to be a manageable number of refugees, which will not have an adverse impact on local services or on the city’s existing pledge under the UK Resettlement Scheme.
“Furthermore, we will continue to work closely with partners across the city and will review our pledges when further information is available.”
