The vision for Albion Square, Hull.

Next steps taken in Albion Square redevelopment

Hull City Council has today launched a pre-market engagement exercise welcoming Expressions of Interest for the redevelopment of Albion Square.

This will allow the council to give interested parties more information about the site and development opportunity, and for developers to share their outline ideas for the site ahead of the formal procurement process and appointment of a lead development partner later this year.

The council’s primary objective of the Albion Square development is to transform a derelict but strategically positioned city centre site into a high-quality mixed-use residential, commercial, leisure and cultural development in line with the city’s Local Plan.

This site has a wider significance for the future economy of Hull, as a visitor destination and a place that people choose to live, work and play.

“It is exciting that the Albion Square project has reached the stage where we can open discussions with prospective lead developers,” said Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council.

“There is so much great potential for the site, which is in a key city centre location. We look forward to hearing from interested parties and their aspirations for the development.”

Those wishing to declare an Expression of Interest can do so by accessing the Pre-Market Engagement documentation published via the council’s electronic tender portal, YORtender. To access the portal, visit YORtender (Ref. 97572).

Completed Expressions of Interest should be submitted via the YORtender portal by no later than 5pm on Monday 12 May 2025.
