Hull City Council is pleased to announce that EC Surfacing have been appointed to resurface the junction of Ferensway and Anlaby Road, a key route in and out of Hull.
The work is scheduled to take place from Friday 21 February until Sunday 23 February, weather permitting.
To minimise the impact on motorists and the travelling public, the work will be carried out overnight, between the hours of 8pm and 6am. During these times a road closure will be in place.
However, an exception will be made to allow traffic to turn into Anlaby Road from Ferensway, north bound, but all other movements through the junction will be prohibited during the closure. Motorists are advised to follow the signed diversion routes that will be in place.
Outside of working hours the junction will be open to traffic in all directions.
The junction has suffered damage over the years due to weathering and significant traffic volumes. This resurfacing project is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to improve key routes in and out of Hull.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: “As a council, we have listened to the views of our residents with regards to this junction and we have taken action by appointing EC Surfacing. We trust they will deliver a high-quality programme that will significantly enhance the road surface and meet our residents’ needs.
“Although this work has been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption, we acknowledge the inconvenience these works may cause. However, it is crucial that this work is carried out to ensure the junction remains a safe and reliable transport route.
“Thank you, in advance, to residents and road users for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out this work.”
Advanced warning signs will be displayed at the junction to notify motorists of the upcoming work.
