The Ferens Junior Open exhibition, an annual highlight of the Ferens calendar, will take place, not once, but twice this year.
The exhibition, which traditionally takes place towards the end of the year, was postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2020 exhibition will now open early in 2021 in the form of the Ferens’ very first digital Junior Open exhibition.
The 2021 Junior Open is set to take place on-site at Ferens in November 2021, and will be an even bigger celebration of talent than the usual exhibition.
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “As we all know, 2020 was a terribly difficult year that saw many of our plans and much-loved events cancelled. What the pandemic could not put a stop to however is the tremendous artistic talent that we have in our region, so I’m delighted that we will once again be able to showcase our young artists as part of this digital exhibition.
“Children and young people have experienced a year like no other, and we want to be able to showcase their work, whether it be by reflecting on their experiences of these unprecedented times or by simply using the exhibition to express their creative talents.”
Anyone aged 15 or under can submit online, completely free, for a chance to have their work featured in the Ferens’ very first digital Junior Open exhibition.
Artwork can be submitted online here.
The closing date for entries is Sunday 31 January.
The digital exhibition will open Friday 12 February on the Humber Museums Partnership website.
