Hull Training and Adult Education recognised the achievements of apprentices, learners and businesses at its annual awards ceremony.
A panel of judges featuring local employers, past apprenticeship award-winners and partners, faced a difficult task filtering nominations before making their final selections at The Guildhall in Hull on Friday.
The awards were sponsored by local companies with a passion for providing apprenticeship and work placements to local people.
The host for the awards was broadcaster Blair Jacobs, who was joined by speakers including Lord Mayor of Hull and Admiral of the Humber Councillor Pete Allen, Hull City Council city manager Tracy Harsley, Tony Wilson of Gardner Aerospace Limited and 2017 apprenticeship award-winners Carla Furlong and Nick Bettney.
Councillor Pete Clark, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “These awards celebrate the hard work of apprentices and learners who have shined, challenging themselves to learn and develop new skills.
“Businesses across the Hull and the East Riding have the opportunity to build a pool of high-quality future recruits for their sector, providing on-the-job training while helping young people take their first steps in the world of employment.
“Our apprentices are the next generation of practitioners of their chosen profession who deserve to be congratulated and are a credit to the city.”
The awards are a celebration of the successful partnership that Hull Training and Adult Education has with employers and partners from across the region to acknowledge those who have gone the extra mile in supporting learners in the workplace.
