This weekend’s offerings in Hull include a free festival and a free look at some of the city’s most important heritage sites, plus some theatre, art and music for good measure.

1. Hull Old Town Festival

A free event starting with a procession of musicians, dancers, the Wilberforcian Steampunk Corporation, Town Cryer and the Lord Mayor of Hull who will parade to Trinity Square.

The square will have children’s rides, market stalls, with food and drink inside Hull Minster and Hepworths Arcade, plus medieval exhibitors. Find more details here.
2. Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together more than 2,000 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers.

3. Footnotes On Equality

Footnotes on Equality is an exhibition created by 15 international researchers as part of the European Commission-funded project Gender and Cultures of Equality in Europe (GRACE). The exhibition curates an eclectic collection of art and everyday objects that speak to cultural productions of (in)equalities across Europe.

A uplifting evening of live music with this up-and-coming Yorkshire band for a relaxed evening of folk rock and Americana songs from their successful debut album Ancient Roads, the title track of which was selected as track of the week on BBC Introducing.
