A fantastic free music festival featuring some of the UK’s most exciting music creators returns to Hull this weekend. PRS Foundation’s New Music Biennial, which takes place across two weekends in London and Hull, features contemporary music including exciting, newly commissioned works from established names and rising stars. Venues include Hull Truck Theatre, the Guildhall, Humber Street Gallery, Hull City Hall and Hull Central Library. Read more here.

Being a slug is hard. Everyone thinks you’re disgusting. Slug and Caterpillar are starving, and the only leaf left in the garden is just out of reach. Slug thinks they should work together. Get the leaf, eat the leaf, play a game, be friends. Caterpillar has other ideas. Slugs are gross, they’re covered in slime and they have terrible taste in music. Things get sticky. Enter the undergrowth to squish, squelsh and play your way through this hilarious, surreal show for children aged two to five and their families, told with a handful of words and lots of slime. Let’as be honest, we all love to have a sneak peek at a stranger’s gardens. The second of two urban open gardens events in HU5, this even, say organisers, is perhaps the biggest inner city open garden event in the UK. Proceeds are donated to charities, with at least 50 per cent given to Dove House Hospice. Learn more here.
