Hull City Council is celebrating becoming the first social landlord nationally to achieve Exemplar Accreditation for its tenant involvement work. Awarded Tpas, the national tenant engagement experts, exemplar status recognises how the Neighbourhood and Housing Service enables its tenants to have their say on the range and quality of the services they receive and how their homes are managed.
Accepting the award Nev Allison, Chair of Hull Tenants’ Forum said: “We are its sounding board and it listens to us because it knows that our opinions and recommendations are vital to running a service which is responsive, efficient and meets its tenants’ needs and aspirations.”
Gillian Mclaren, National Consultancy Manager at Tpas who carried out Hull’s assessment pointed out that it was very clear that Tenant engagement is embedded in the council’s culture and we were very impressed that future proofing which will guarantee that tenant participation remains at the heart of the service.
Cllr John Black, Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Housing said: “This award validates the council’s policies and approach to offering a customer-centric housing service.”
