Hull City Council has today (Thursday 12 March) officially launched a new waste and recycling web app, so you never miss a bin day again!
The web app has been developed to support Hull’s Simpler Recycling rollout, a new government‑led policy designed to make recycling clearer and more consistent across the country.
With weekly brown bin and outdoor food caddy collections moving to weekly from March 31, the web app puts everything residents need to know in one easy‑to‑access place, helping residents adapt smoothly to the changes.
The innovative tool provides residents with bin day reminders via push notifications, recycling tips, and an A–Z directory covering how to correctly dispose of everyday household items – so no more guess work.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at Hull City Council, said: “We know how busy day-to-day life can be, so this new web app is all about making things as easy as possible for our residents.
“From bin day reminders to quickly checking whether an item can be recycled, the app puts clear, reliable information at people’s fingertips.
“Through Simpler Recycling, we want to give everyone the tools to recycle properly, reduce waste, and keep our city clean and safe.”
