Buses in Hull are to become more cycle-friendly.
Bus company East Yorkshire has introduced eight new buses which allow passengers to store their bikes on board.
The specialist racks have been installed as part of plans to support people who choose to make more environmentally-conscious and active journeys.
The move comes as Hull City Council continues its programme to install pop-up cycle lanes and extend bus lane hours to 7am – 6.30pm, Monday – Saturday.
Ben Gilligan, East Yorkshire’s Area Director, said: “At the moment, everyone’s talking about getting active, so the ability to bring your bike along is a game changer. It opens up huge possibilities for both commuters and those who cycle for fun to make the most of the endless opportunities for cycling in our amazing part of the country.”

Matt Cranwell, managing director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “Re-establishing Hull as a vibrant, popular destination for retail, employment, education and leisure is vital to the city’s economic growth following the lockdown period.
“We need to maintain the improved air quality and reduced traffic levels seen over recent months to make the city centre a cleaner, greener and more pleasant environment. Promoting sustainable travel by introducing measures to encourage more walking, cycling and use of public transport is an essential step towards the city’s economic recovery.”
These measures have been introduced to help support people making greener journeys.
