Hull City Council asks Hull parents to take up childcare offer as deadline approaches

Hull City Council’s Family Information Service is asking parents to check whether they are eligible for childcare before the deadline closes.

From September, children aged nine months old on or before 31 August 2024 may be eligible for 15 hours early education and childcare (up to 30 hours for children aged 3-4 years). To receive the funding in September, parents must apply before 31 August.

The council is recommending that they apply and inform their chosen childcare provider of their eligibility code by mid-July, as some providers close for the summer.

To be eligible, both parents (or one parent if a single parent household) must work a minimum of 16 hours per week and earn less than £100k a year (each).

To apply, visit: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

For any queries, the Family Information Service can be contacted directly by calling 01482 318318.

Pauline Turner, the Director of Children and Family Services at Hull City Council, said: “We encourage all eligible parents to apply and confirm their child’s place as early as possible to ensure they don’t miss out.”

“Early learning lays foundations for life and I encourage all parents to ensure they are registered and take up their child’s place.”
