Local elections take place in Hull on Thursday 2 May, when residents go to the polls to have their say on who represents them.
People have until Friday 12 April to make sure they are registered to vote.
Matt Jukes, Returning Officer, said:
“Residents only need to register to vote once, and do not need to register for every election if details remain the same. However, people who have moved house, changed name or turned 18 in the last year need to register.
“These elections are an opportunity for residents to have a say on who represents them on issues that directly affect day-to-day life in Hull.”
Local government elections select councillors, who are responsible for making decisions on running services in the city, including housing, education, transport, planning, parks, leisure, social care and waste management.

This service can also be used to:
- change the way people choose to vote – for example in person, by post or by proxy
- get on or off the open register
Residents that were registered to vote in the last election and whose details have not changed, will still be registered to vote.
Key dates for the Local Election 2019
22 March: Publication of notice of election
3 April: Deadline for nominations for election
4 April: Publication of statement of persons nominated for election
12 April: Deadline for registering to vote
15 April: Deadline to apply for, change or cancel a postal vote
24 April: Deadline to apply for, change or cancel a proxy vote
2 May: Election day, polling stations open 7am to 10pm
