Television chef Jack Stein will head up Visit Hull and East Yorkshire’s (VHEY) annual tourism conference this month.
Stein, of programmes ‘Wine, Dine and Stein’ and ‘Jack Stein: Born to Cook’, is the keynote speaker for the event which will look to educate those in the tourism industry on the work VHEY does.
Topical issues affecting the industry will also be discussed as part of helping to make Hull a world class visitor destination.
Speakers on the day will be VHEY chair Chris Blacksell and VisitEngland’s deputy director, Lyndsey Turner-Swift.
There will also be a collaborative presentation from VisitEngland and AccessAble detailing how businesses can become more accessible.
The conference will be followed by an exclusive Big Welcome training workshop, a programme offering businesses the opportunity to enhance their customer care approach and learn skills to help their frontline staff add value to their communication with visitors.
Cllr Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Hull City Council, said: “VHEY’s annual tourism conference is great way for the industry to learn about the wonderful work being done by VHEY.
“It works hard to ensure that this area is a world class visitor destination and it’s great to hear how it continues to progress each year.”
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Tourism attracts thousands to the area each year which has an incredible impact on our communities, economy, and culture.
‘’The VHEY annual tourism conference is a way to highlight and celebrate all that has been achieved so far whilst inspiring new ideas and progress.’’
Chris Blacksell, Chair of the VHEY advisory board said: “Tourism plays a pivotal role in shaping our region’s identity and economy, and the annual VHEY conference is an essential platform for fostering innovation and collaboration.
“With industry experts and local businesses coming together, we look forward to welcoming everyone for what is set to be a great event.”
