Drypool Bridge emergency closure

Drypool Bridge will be closed to road users from 7pm tonight until further notice.

Following a routine inspection, which was carried out earlier today (Wednesday 10 April), Drypool Bridge will be closed from 7pm tonight until further notice, as a precautionary measure.

This closure will allow for a further detailed investigation to be carried out tomorrow (Thursday 11 April).

The bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists and river traffic.

Andy Burton, Assistant Director of Streetscene, said: “We know that this is a popular route for many road users, and we apologise that we are having to take this course of action, however, safety is always our primary concern.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and understanding.

“We will provide further updates as soon as we can.”

A diversion route will be in place throughout the closure.
