A Hull school pupil has designed the winning logo for the city’s new Nature Trail initiative.
Earlier this year, pupils across Hull were invited to submit design concepts for the Hull Nature Trail – a new initiative aimed at helping people reconnect with nature.
After careful consideration, a logo created by Blake, a pupil at The Venn Boulevard Centre, was selected as the winning design.

To celebrate, Councillor Charles Quinn, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for environment, presented Blake with an award and a shopping voucher during a special school assembly.
Following receipt of the award, Blake said he was “really surprised but pleased” to learn his design had been chosen and is “excited” to see his logo displayed across the city.
His design has now been turned into the official Hull Nature Trail logo and is already in use at the trial nature trail along the Holderness Drain, which opened in October 2025.

Councillor Quinn said: “The Hull Nature Trail is all about celebrating our green spaces and encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors.
“Blake’s design captures that perfectly, and we’re delighted to have his design at the heart of this project.”
Danielle Kennington, teacher at Venn Boulevard Centre, said: “We at The Venn Boulevard Centre would like to thank Hull City Council for providing the opportunity for our students to enter the Nature Logo competition.
“Blake worked really hard to design his logo and wanted to use the colour green to represent nature. He liked the idea of using leaves as part of the design as this is what he thinks of when we say the word ‘nature’. He also added the sun because it reminds him of sunny days.
“We are really proud of Blake and cannot wait to walk the nature trails and see his logo across the city”.
The Hull Nature Trail aims to reconnect people with Hull’s lesser-known green spaces, encouraging exploration, outdoor activity, and a deeper connection with nature.
Many of these historic walking routes are wildlife havens and offer fantastic opportunities for education, relaxation, and wellbeing.
Plans are underway to expand the Hull Nature Trail citywide by next spring/summer, linking parks, pathways, and transport routes to create a more accessible and enjoyable outdoor network.
Further information will be available soon via Home – Parks and Open Spaces
