A feast of free family entertainment is being staged in the city this weekend.

Get down to the city centre and gorge yourself on street food made from fresh local produce. Local traders will also be selling their wares at the huge Hull Show, while visitors and residents can also head over to the Old Town for a community event featuring fun, frolics … and more food. 1. Yum! Festival of Food and Drink
Queens Gardens and Rose Bowl
Friday and Saturday 11am-7pm

The ninth two-day festival features fresh local produce and tasty street food across more than 70 stalls.

Delicious hot and cold food, alcoholic and soft drinks and free children’s entertainment including face-painting, cupcake decorating and healthy cookery classes. Learn more here.

2. Hull Show
East Park

This huge event promises to exhibit the city’s real community spirit through local traders, live entertainment, food and drink and a mega funfair.

Almost 30,000 attending last year’s event, with organisers expecting another big year this time around. Get details here.

3. Hull Minster Community Fun Day
Hull Minster

Family fun featuring games, stalls, music, rides and delicious food from the Minster Kitchen, all in the shadow of the magnificent Hull Minster, the largest parish church in the country.

4. Is It My Fault?
The University of Hull Wilberforce Institute
Until Saturday 1 September, 10am-3pm

This hard-hitting exhibition is being staged to dispel myths of rape and sexual assault, including provocative dress being a factor in violent sexual crimes.

5. Wildlife Photographer Of The Year
Beverley Treasure House
Until Saturday September 14

This world-renowned exhibition in neighbouring Beverley is back for a third year by popular demand, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London.
