Public play areas in Hull’s parks have started to reopen today, ready for the weekend.
The play areas have been undergoing thorough health and safety inspections before being allowed to reopen in a phased approach.
However outdoor gyms remain closed until further notice.
Playgrounds in local parks including Barbara Robson Playing Fields, Bude Park and Ings Road Playing Fields are amongst those already reopened, with more being added to the list on a daily basis. For the latest list of park play areas, visit the Hull Culture and Leisure website.
The public are reminded to adhere to Government guidelines and follow social distancing rules.
Councillor Dave Craker, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “We are taking steps to prepare play areas and outdoor gyms for a phased reopening to the public following Government guidelines.
“The equipment has now been checked for damage and wear and tear, and they will reopen in a planned approach.
“However it is the responsibility of the user to observe guidelines and maintain social distancing from other park users, use hand sanitiser regularly and aim to wipe down surfaces before and after use.
“Please remember that you will be using these shared facilities at your own risk, if you or your family are displaying signs of coronavirus symptoms, then do not use this equipment.
“We hope you enjoy using the playground and thank you for helping to keep everyone safe by always following these simple instructions.”
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure said: “It’s fantastic news we are now able to open some playgrounds to the public.
“We know that residents and visitors alike have been looking forward to this over the summer period, and we look forward to welcoming them back to our facilities.”
