Hull Fostering is supporting Foster Care Fortnight, 9 to 22 May, highlighting the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers, and also the need for more foster carers to help care for children in Hull.
The theme of Foster Care Fortnight 2022 is fostering communities, enabling children to stay with foster families local to everything they are familiar with already.
Hull City Council is encouraging anyone who is interested in fostering to come along to one of the information events for an informal chat.

Pauline Turner, Director of children’s services said: “In Hull we’re proud of our current foster carers who provide such an amazing service for our children and young people. However, we always need more people to be foster carers and continue to provide family-based care for as many children as possible.
“Our valued foster carers are patient, understanding and have a genuine commitment to make a difference to children’s lives. We’d love to welcome new people to begin their own fostering journey with us.”
There are different types of fostering and many different reasons that children come into foster care. Some children need long term care, some children need short term care, some need planned care for weekends or short breaks.
Pauline continued: “We especially need foster carers to provide care for children with learning difficulties and disabilities. We’re also looking for carers to look after sibling groups and provide parent and child placements.
“We welcome people from all different backgrounds regardless of culture, religion, gender, sexuality and experience. You can foster if you are single, married, not married, LGBTQ+, employed, not employed. You can foster if you have children or no children and there is no upper age limit.”
