Bandstand Roundabout to close for two weekends as part of Stoneferry improvement scheme

Bandstand Roundabout will close over two weekends for essential repair and resurfacing works as part of the Stoneferry improvement scheme.

The roundabout, at the junction of Stoneferry Road, Leads Road and West Carr Lane, will be closed to traffic from 7pm on Friday 26 November to allow the carriageway surfacing to be removed and repairs to the concrete road foundation to be carried out.

The roundabout will reopen at 6am on Monday 29 November, at which point the concrete foundation will remain exposed for a few days, but will be safe to drive on.

From 7pm on Friday 3 December to 6am on Monday 6 December, Bandstand Roundabout will be closed again to allow resurfacing work to take place.

During the closures, access to/from West Carr Lane will be from Stockholm Road, for residents and to businesses only. A signed diversion route will be in place.

Vehicles will be required to access Leads Road from the Sutton Road junction. Access beyond Rotterdam Road will be for residents and to businesses only.

There will be no access to Glebe Road from Stoneferry Road. Residents will be required to enter and exit via Foredyke Avenue from Leads Road. As a temporary measure, two-way traffic will be permitted on Foredyke Avenue.

Councillor Dean Kirk, portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways said: “This work is a key part of the Stoneferry improvement scheme, with thousands of people using Bandstand Roundabout each day.

“These closures will take place over two weekends in order to minimise disruption and ensure the work can be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“Noise mitigation has been a core consideration in the selection of equipment. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
