Works to reduce the number of potholes on Hull’s roads will begin this month.
Hull City Council will be laying a specialist surface treatment to 12 sections of road starting on Monday 22 July.
Over the past seven months, the authority has carried out 2,067 pothole repairs across the city. This follows the introduction of a new digital software system installed last month, which has enabled those who work on potholes to plan more efficient scheduling of repairs.
Councillor Anita Harrison, portfolio holder for Streetscene, said: “We carried out more than 200 jobs in May, highlighting the efficiency of this new system. As the teams progress, we hope to see this number increase month by month.”
Improvements to council software have meant that once a request for a pothole repair is received, the team is able to plan more efficient scheduling of work zones by grouping repairs – saving time and money. The new reporting system will be rolled out for public use in the next two weeks.
During July, 54,368 sq m of road will be treated with surface dressing. This treatment restores and seals the road surface, preventing the formation of potholes. This programme follows micro-surfacing that took place in April, which saw more than 43,000 m2 of residential streets receiving the specialist treatment.
Some road closures will be in place. See below for the full list of works:

“We apologise in advance for any disruption caused during the period of works, and ask that motorists are patient whilst we carry out these essential repairs.”
Advance warning signs will be in place and residents in the affected areas will be informed via letter drops.
