Families will be able to take advantage of the sunshine this summer as free paddling pools and water play areas open across Hull’s parks.
A number of water play areas in the city will soon open for the summer season, with Alderman Kneeshaw and West Park scheduled for Monday 21 June, subject to Covid restrictions being lifted.
Pickering Park and Ings Road facilities will follow in July, in time for the summer holidays.
Councillor Rosie Nicola, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “We are delighted to be able to open these paddling pools and water play areas this summer.
“The free facilities within our parks are second to none and, although we are closely monitoring Covid-guidelines, we remain hopeful we can go ahead as planned.
“Unfortunately pools at Bude Park and Oak Road will remain closed this year as the redesign and upgrading of these facilities has been hampered throughout the pandemic. We hope to have them open next year.”
Alongside the existing pools, work continues on the revamp of the East Park splash pad which is scheduled to open to the public later this summer.
Update: The splash areas will have to remain closed due to the Government’s roadmap extension. Full story here.
