For more than 10 years, a Hull company has been providing hospitality services across the world, thanks to support from Hull City Council.
Tevalis, a hospitality-focused point of sale and management technology, opened in 2005 with just two employees.
Based in Alfred Gelder Street, the company later opened a second office in the K2 building after their employee base grew to 100.
The firm now boasts international clients from the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Canada and the US.
Director John Wright said: “In 2016, it was clear Tevalis had a very bright future, but needed bigger premises to fully develop the business with the vital increase in the workforce.
“We looked at many offices and decided on premises in the centre of Hull in Alfred Gelder Street, where two floors of the building were available.
“The cost of the fit-out and the technical equipment required was very high and we approached Hull City Council, who provided assistance practical and professional way.
“Very quickly, they responded with an offer of a grant towards the cost of the work and with their assistance, the next phase in the development of the company was commenced.”
During Humber Business Week, Hull City Council said supporting business growth is a priority.
The authority does a huge amount of work to ensure SMEs are equipped with the skills and funding they need to develop their business into a successful enterprise.
More than 95 per cent of businesses in the Humber are SMEs – and the council has a specialist team dedicated to supporting them via the #GrowMySME programme.
The scheme is a joint project managed by the Humber Business Growth Hub, as part of the Humber LEP. The LEP works with local authorities to help support businesses to grow their businesses through funding, advice and inspiration.
Councillor Daren Hale, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for economic investment, said: “The Humber region is a hotbed of entrepreneurialism and projects such as this can really help SMEs to grow their businesses through funding, advice and inspiration, which can benefit the entire region.”
Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations.
