A range of free dance classes and workshops are taking place in Hull for anyone wanting to learn more or improve their dance skills.
Funded by Grants to Arts at Hull City Council, the ‘We Move’ project is being delivered by local dance duo Tamar and Jo.
Classes for anyone aged 16 and over are available to book at their studio at Shirethorn House, and sessions for any age are open at Gipsyville Library and Unity in Community.
Tamar & Jo are a Hull-based dance duo that blend contemporary dance with elements of physical theatrek, improvised movement, comedy and commercial dance styles. As well as creating and performing as a duo, Tamar & Jo work with members of the community, emerging and professional dancers to create performance that is vibrant, bold, evocative and exciting.
One half of the duo, Jo Ashbridge, said “We have delivered so many performances over the last couple of years and now we want to offer opportunities for people to get involved as participants.
“There is always such a great atmosphere in our classes and we’ve missed this during the pandemic.
“We Move is a way of inviting anyone and everyone, regardless of experience, to come and enjoy dancing with us.”
Classes include beginner, intermediate and advanced contemporary dance and creative play for dancer. Workshops are based around the Doorstep Dances project and Creative Dance sessions in the community.
More information and booking can be found on Tamar and Jo’s website. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram, or call the company on 07736287666/07712446145.
We Move runs until Tuesday 19 April.
