Councillor Alan Clark, portfolio holder with responsibility for Streetscene, said:
The closure is essential so that the works can be carried out thoroughly in order to improve the condition of the road, and ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance.
We ask that motorists are patient and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the period of the works.
Advance warning signs will be displayed for motorists and access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles.
