Hull City Council will begin to collect from next week.
Residents will be able to book for this collection service on the council’s website from today (Wednesday 6 May).
Appointments will be available from Tuesday 12 May.
The move comes after the household waste and recycling centres reopened on Monday.
Doug Sharp, head of waste management, said: “We are gradually starting to reopen our waste services beyond just the usual household waste collections.
“We understand that many residents will have excess waste during this period and want to support them where possible, which is why we are now allowing those with small vans to visit our household waste and recycling centres.”
The use of large transit vans is still not yet permitted at the centres.
Residents visiting the city’s three sites are reminded to only make this journey if it is absolutely essential and to observe social distancing when on site.
Doug said: “When making a trip to the centre, I urge residents to try and stagger their visits and try to attend in the afternoon when it has been much quieter.”
Vehicles should also display a residents’ pass in the windscreen as normal, or bring proof of Hull residency in the form of a utility bill or driving licence.
