As part of the upcoming refurbishment works to Pickering Park aviary, a number of trees and bushes are to be removed.
From Monday, part of the areas shrubbery and eight surrounding trees will be taken out following inspections by the council’s arboriculturalists.
Garry Taylor, Hull City Council’s assistant director for major projects, said: “Any trees that have been identified to be removed are due to disease, root intrusion or proximity to the new building.
“In line with council policy, three replacement trees will be planted for every one removed with a mix of native and non-native species.
“The new trees will improve the biodiversity level in the park and are a welcome addition to the park’s landscape.”
