Major plans on how Transport for the North can improve Hull’s rail and road network are to be on display at a drop-in session this week.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet with transport leaders, including representatives from Transport for the North about the newly launched Strategic Transport Plan. Highways England and Hull City Council will also be in attendance.
Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for transport, said: “The open event taking place this Friday is really an opportunity for the public to come along and directly engage with people from the authorities who are making real improvements to the city’s transport infrastructure.

“Improving Hull’s rail and road network to support sustainable economic growth is a key priority for this council, and by working together, we can ensure the city is better connected to economic centres across the north and beyond.”
The Investment Programme, which accompanies the Strategic Transport Plan, contains transport interventions that would transform connectivity across Hull and the rest of the North.
Potential interventions in Hull include improvements to the A1079 between York and Hull, better access to the Humber Ports, including the A6/A1033 junction improvements, and journey time improvements to the M18 between Junctions 2 to 5.
Northern Powerhouse Rail will also mean another 30,000 businesses and a million more people will be within 90 minutes reach of the city. Hull’s connectivity with towns and cities across the North will be transformed, and the rail programme will take almost 20 minutes off the current journey time between Hull and Leeds.
Improvements to the rail service are also planned between York and Hull and Hull to Scarborough.
The open day will take place on Friday 8 March from noon to 5.30pm at Hull Paragon Interchange.
