Get It Loud In Libraries, a national organisation bringing some of the world’s most exciting bands and artists to libraries all over the UK, is returning to Hull this weekend.
Post-punk trio Working Men’s Club will be performing at Hull Central Library on Sunday (10 March).
They follow American rockers Sunflower Bean and BC Camplight, who both performed at the library in 2018.
Here’s a video of when Sunflower Bean visited Hull Central Library last year –
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “This is the third gig at the library and more are planned. The previous performances were both sell-outs and attracted new audiences to the library, adding to its growing reputation as being a key cultural venue in the city for music, arts and drama.”
Working Men’s Club was formed in 2017 and since then the young, northern trio have achieved amazing success.
The members all hail from northern towns with the band’s name reflecting its roots performing in social clubs and pubs in their local area.
They signed with Melodic Records in December 2018 and their debut single, Bad Blood, has received national airplay from a number of DJs including Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Lauren Laverne.
The single reached almost 70,000 plays on Spotify and was featured on BBC 6 Music Recommends playlist.
No longer playing to small audiences in social clubs, Working Men’s Club have supported the likes of Pip Blom, The Wedding Present and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, as well as racking up festival appearances such as Dot To Dot festival, Liverpool Sound City and When In Manchester throughout 2018.
Sunday’s performance is at 2.30pm.
