A series of free videos helping Hull families to cook simple, healthy recipes together is now available online, released by Hull City Council.
The videos feature simple and easy-to-follow recipes, presented by local families to encourage others to get cooking with their little ones. The short cooking demonstration videos include affordable recipes and have been created by the Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Team to inspire families to make and eat healthy meals together.
The first two videos are now available to view now on Hull City Council’s Healthy Lifestyles Hull Facebook page and Hull City Council’s YouTube channel. The remaining video in the mini-series will be released on the social media channels this week.
Councillor Shane McMurray, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, Hull City Council, said:
“It is absolutely right that if people want to learn to eat well and cook better that we support families in any way we can. I’m delighted that we’re producing videos to assist those who want to cook more for themselves and their children. Involving children in the cooking process can turn an often laborious task into a chance to bond, have fun and share skills. Preparing food can be a great way for families to come together which is often much needed with busy lives.”
The videos are a follow up to the Council’s Healthy Holidays Hull initiative – a programme of free events plus activity and recipe ideas for children and families to enjoy a healthy summer. The series will also be shared with children’s centres, nurseries and schools across the city as part of the Council’s drive to promote healthy eating.
