Meet Gilbert Chadwick, Hull Fair’s oldest working showman.
Gilbert has been attending his beloved fair for more than 50 years.
He has watched as steam-powered rides were replaced by the hydraulics of white-knuckles rides at the fair today.
Describing the fair, third-generation showman said: “You have just walked into another world, and the world will last for eight days, and then it’s gone. It’s then back to an old car park again.”
