Essential repair works to Foredyke Bridge have now been completed.
Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for strategic highways, said:
“The completion of this vital scheme highlights our commitment to improving the city’s transport infrastructure, and although it took slightly longer than anticipated, the benefits will last for years to come.
“I would like to thank pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and the bus companies for their patience during these works, and we hope the route will continue to fulfil its purpose of providing road users access to various parts of Kingswood.”
Initial roadworks were started on Wawne Road in March this year, and following excavation works it was found that extensive structural repairs were required to the bridge.
Following a six month closure, the bridge and road have now fully reopened to the public, however some minor works surrounding the area are still ongoing.
The emergency link road will be returned to its original layout and vehicles will no longer be able to use this as an alternative route.
